Upgrades 15. Wider Pedal Extension
I've racked up over 500 miles now and after this time you start to get a feel for the car. One thing that is immediately apparent, especially in the SV chassis, is the distance between the brake and accelerator pedals.
Mine measured about 72mm which meant I could almost get my foot between the pedals, and there was certainly no way I could attempt a heel-toe with it like this. It was also just a bit "niggly" having such a small pedal for those longer journeys.
To the rescue again came uberniche with their custom made parts. I ended up ordering a 20mm and 30mm extension, and ended up fitting the 30mm, which meant I was left with 42mm gap between the brake and accelerator. You can order parts here.
To fit was pretty easy. I simply removed the pedal box, and throttle cable from the accelerator pedal. Then removed the pedal and fitted them with the help of a vice, this made pushing the parts together easier. Once I was happy with the fit, I used the supplied bolt to attach both sides of the extension together. Note the distance in the photo now is much closer. The S3 chassis is usually 45-50mm gap by default, and people often close that to 35-40mm as well for heel-toe.
Now I have less space between the brake and accelerator, it is essential that we setup the pedals correctly to get the best from them, and also to make them fully safe. You will want to set up the resting point of the throttle to be inline with the brake when it is depressed. My car is not like this at all at the moment and so needs setting up. See ahead to the Pedal Setup post for advise on doing this.
